Abstract
The purpose behind this mixed methods study of qualitative and quantitative data wasto determine if there are significant differences in student achievement, student attendance and student discipline and behavior by ninth grade students who took a freshman seminar course versus students who did not take the course. The study also examinedperceptual data of students and staff to determine if freshman seminar is meeting the support needs of students entering the ninth grade.
